TERRY FOX TRIBUTE SONG

Momma, I see him coming!

Terry Fox travelled agonizing miles to fight a silent, invisible killer.

He wished to be known as an ordinary man so that others would not excuse themselves from accomplishing outstanding things.

His bravery, in the face of the pain and the terrible exhaustion of his journey, was extra ordinary.

“ The red lights were flashing in the distance
I remember someone wept… then,
the undeniable rhythm of your step ”

“ Some of us cried…
some others ran by your side…
God, it made the senses reel”

Lyrics by; Glenda Paxton

I spoke with Kirill Shirokov, my producer, arranger and begged for an Irish flute in the song.

He cleverly used it in the intro and in the last few moments of the song.

To me, it was symbolic of the Celtic East coast where Terry dipped his artificial leg in the Atlantic Ocean minutes before beginning his journey across Canada, for us!
